  18. What is needed to upgrade
  19. =========================
  20.  
  21.   1.  An un-modified STeno 2 Master Disk, version 2.11.
  22.  
  23.   2.  A hard disk or a blank formatted floppy disk (to place the
  24.       STENO212.PRG and STENO212.DAT on).

  27. How to upgrade your STeno version 2.11 to version 2.12
  28. ======================================================
  29.  
  30.   1.  Make sure you have made a backup copy of the STeno 2 Master Disk.
  31.  
  32.   2.  Place the STENO212.PRG and STENO212.DAT on your hard disk or on the
  33.       blank floppy disk (it may need the extra disk space to write some
  34.       temporary files, depending on free memory.)
  35.  
  36.   3.  Run the STENO212.PRG and follow the on-screen prompts.
  37.  
  38.   4.  Once you have finished upgrading your master disk to version 2.12,
  39.       make a backup copy of this newer version.
  40.  
  41.   ** VERY IMPORTANT STEP, READ CAREFULLY **
  42.  
  43.   5.  To install the newer version on your system, you MUST replace the
  44.       following STeno 2.11 files in your system with the 2.12 version
  45.       files from the newly upgraded disk:
  46.  
  47.       \STENO.ACC
  48.       \STENO.PRG
  49.       \STENO.RSC
  50.  
  51.       Please note: The contents of the BACKUP folder on the STeno disk are
  52.       NOT MODIFIED.

  55. If you get an error message
  56. ===========================
  57.  
  58.   If your STeno 2 Master Disk has been modified in any way (including
  59.   moving files around), the patch program will not be able to perform the
  60.   upgrade.  You will get an error message indicating that this has
  61.   happened.  In this case, you should mail us the disk so that we can
  62.   upgrade it.
  63.  
  64.   To have your disk upgraded by us, you need to:
  65.  
  66.   1.  Send in your original, registered, STeno 2.11 Master Disk.
  67.   2.  Enclose a U.S. check for $5 + $2 shipping & handling ($7 total).
  68.   3.  Enclose a note with your name, address, and daytime phone number.
  69.  
  70.   In return you will receive the upgraded 2.12 Master Disk. If you have
  71.   already purchased this patch disk from us for $5, please just include
  72.   your original disk and $2.

  75. Changes for STeno 2.12
  76. ======================
  77.  
  78.   General Operation:
  79.  
  80.   o There is a new option in the Preferences dialog, "Save always
  81.     replaces". When checked, STeno will always replace the file being
  82.     saved, instead of asking to Append/Replace/Cancel.
  83.  
  84.   o Older versions of TOS have a limited size for the buffer that is used
  85.     to store the aera "underneath" pulldown menus. If any of STeno's menus
  86.     are too wide to fit within limits set by your version of TOS, they will
  87.     be vertically "cut off" on the righthand edge by one or two characters.
  88.     Previous versions of STeno would just prevent the menu from showing up
  89.     at all, which was far less preferable.

  91.   o Fixed a redraw problem when reformatting paragraphs.
  92.  
  93.   o In line scroll mode, some cases where the mouse would not turn back on
  94.     or leave trails beind have been fixed. Also, the last line on the
  95.     screen redraws correctly if you only insert one line.
  96.  
  97.   o STeno should no longer drop characters when the window needs to scroll
  98.     as you are typing.
  99.  
  100.   o STeno will no longer resize the window if it is moved slightly
  101.     off the screen.
  102.  
  103.   o Carriage returns are no longer added when pasting a word or phrase
  104.     without any carriage returns from the clipboard.

  106.   o Cutting/deleting an empty selection will no longer crash.
  107.  
  108.   Typeahead Mode:
  109.  
  110.   o If "Send A <CR> After Each Line" is not checked, all lines sent to
  111.     STalker will now be without a <CR>, except the very last line.

  113.   o Pressing Alt-Return on a line without a selection will no longer cause
  114.     the line to be split in STeno.

  116.   o Some extra carriage-returns and spaces will no longer be sent.
